Habitat of Polk County offers current homeowners that are in need of weatherization or repair. Habitat partners with USDA for those larger projects that require a licensed professional, as well as help those homeowners over the age of 62 to apply for grants for home repairs.
Basic Habitat requirements
NEED – Home must be in need of weatherization or a critical repair to ensure health and safety of the occupants.
ABILITY TO PAY – Although some repairs maybe covered there are minimal cost associated with each repair.
- Income cannot exceed 80% of the AMI (Area Median Income) for Polk County to qualify.
- In some instances you maybe required to fill out a USDA 504 application for home repair loan.
- Homeowners over the age of 62 may quailify for a grant up to $10,000 through the USDA program.
